All caregivers in Washington must meet a minimum standard of training and certification and may require additional training depending on their care setting.
A caregiver working in an assisted living facility (ALF) or adult family home (AFH) who provide care to clients living with a mental illness or dementia, can easily achieve their 75-hr certification by completing following courses:
Orientation and Safety (5 ours)
Core Basic Training (54 hours)
Mental Health specialty training (8 hours)
Dementia specialty training (8 hours)
Orientation to the care setting and information on safety practices
Training tailored to a specific clientele and their unique needs
Covering basic skills and information needed to provide hands on personal care
